FACTS:
*Rabbits are hindgut digesters. This means that most of their digestion takes place in their large intestine and cecum. In rabbits, the cecum is about 10 times bigger than the stomach, and it, along with the large intestine, makes up roughly 40% of the rabbit's digestive tract.Cecotropes, sometimes called "night feces", come from the cecum and are high in minerals, vitamins and proteins that are necessary to the rabbit's health. Rabbits eat these to meet their nutritional requirements. This process allows rabbits to extract the necessary nutrients from their food.
>> I included this fact because last year when I bought a pair of rabbit and named "thaethae" and "quiqui", I only feed them leafy vegetables, which I found out last time very wrong, that's why they became hungry everytime and resulted to the death of "thaethae", I was so sad when that tragedy happened to me, so I decided to guard quiqui everytime this time with only a kangkong diet which is her favorite, after a few months quiqui grew and I was so happy because she is very active, but later on when I compare her to the rabbit named beatrice of my classmate, i found out that she is still malnourished in that state and later on died too....
after a long time of mourning because of their immediate deaths I, again decided not only to make rabbit as my pets but also to breed them. This time before I bought them last last week I make it sure that I have all the necessary informations about them: what they eat, what's their diet, how to keep them healthy, where should i keep them and etc. Now I hope that I can really keep them for a longer time maybe years or even a decade.
*Rabbits live in groups called warrens in underground burrows, or rabbit holes.
>>If u have a rabbit and you are keeping them in a cage where there is no flooring but earth, don't be shocked when they suddenly disappear one morning when you woke up, it is because their natural habitat/houses are burrows which they dug underground, so the best thing to do is to search for a hole and see if they are housing there, if u didn't see any holes or sign of burrows, I'm afraid they might have been eaten by predators or worst your neighbor get it for their own profit.
*Rabbits have so many breeds that in America some rabbitries have their own breeding specialty, here in the Philippines if we saw rabbits that are being sold cheaply in the marketplace, changefair or to any pet shops, dont be deceived by their beautiful furs and coats because all of them are in the same genera, they are all plain domestic rabbits.
>>Before starting my rabbitry, I really wanted to breed rabbits that has pure breedings but it's like looking for a gold needle in a vast desert, cause purebreed rabbits are very rare here in the Philippines, it is almost impossible to buy one, and if you are very lucky to find one it will cost 2500 and up and most of the time it is not for sale, huhu...so sad, and if u have been to bio-research in North EDSA you can see that they are selling netherland dwarfs(a breed of rabbit) but in my opinion it is only half breed as many other pet enthusiasts are saying cause it is very obvious in their features that it is clearly not a purebreed.
*As far as I know there are few breeds of rabbits that are starting to flourish here in our country, thanks for the help of our very own professional breeders that they will be in great numbers in the next years or generations, here are they:
the angora rabbit, which I think is one of the breeds included in the JSR's show.

the rex rabbits, which is being bred by various breeders that i saw here in metro manila, batangas or laguna. They are like normal rabbits but base on my observation they are much fluffy than a normal one, and they also come in different colors, some of their breeds/colors have color spots in their eyes(opinion only).

the holland lop, there is only one breeder that i knew who breeds this kind of rabbit, base on his information given he lives in Fort Bonifacio in manila, and also has a rabbitry which specializes in holland lop rabbits, he also has a multiply account where you can see his warren/herd/pets.

the lionhead rabbits(it's only a rumor that there are hobbyist who imported them here) hope it's true.

the netherland dwarf, if u compare this with the ones in bio-research u will also tell that they are not pure, hehe^_^

that's all for this day, if you have some violent reactions. I dont care as long as it does not concern/affect my rabbits.:P
also if u will post a comment please leave it in the topic itself not in the shoutbox, like that "feistyapey" did.
