And yes! you have read the title right! Our most treasured fruit here in the Philippines and also our national fruit-Mango has been found out by scientists to have healing properties.
Scientists at the Texas A&M University have discovered cancer retardants in the delicious mango fruit. The extract of mango can prevent, if not stop, the growth of cancer cells especially breast and colon cancer(which we know 2 of the deadliest cancer here in the Philippines).

The scientists Dr. Susanne Talcott and husband and co-researcher Dr. Steve Talcott released the scientific data recently saying the mango extracts "demonstrated some cancer-fighting abilities when tested on lung, leukemia and prostrate cancer cells". When tested on breast and colon cancer cells, they had an even more robust anti-cancer effect, they said "In fact, the mango extracts caused the breast cancer and colon cancer cells to undergo apoptosis or programmed cancer cell death", they said. We all know that mango is one of our top exporting product and if the other countries discover that mangoes are not only delicious but also contribute to fighting cancer cells and other ailments, the demand of it in the global market will surely increase and will result to a good progress on our economy.
